Description of Work

Position will work as a liaison between UNL and Nebraska Association of Resources Districts (the managing entity and 23 individual Natural Resource Districts (NRDs)and state agencies. These include Department of Natural Resources, DNR, Department of Environmental Quality, DEQ; Department of Agriculture, DOA; and Health and Human Services, HHS, Irrigation Districts and stakeholders such as Nebraska Water Balance Alliance (NEWBA) in Nebraska and federal agencies such as NRCS and USDA-Rural Development to explore opportunities for mutual cooperation and to enable UNL to address the issues of the state effectively. Work closely with the leaderships of Nebraska Water Center, Water for Food Institute, and Nebraska Extension to understand the research, extension, and outreach capacity within UNL and to carry this message to state agencies and NRDs. Position will have professional level understanding of functions and structures of various agencies involved. Coordinate joint UNL and NRD and other agency events.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, environmental, water, natural resource sciences or related field plus 2 years of experience conducting personnel interviews, report writing and professional presentations required. Must be proficient with computers to include word processing, database and presentation software. Valid driver’s license required. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills essential.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in agricultural, environmental, water, natural resource sciences or related field preferred. Three years of experience collecting technical and non-technical data from interviews desirable. Experience planning for events helpful.Prefer experience analyzing and interpreting data. Prefer experience in report writing and professional presentations. Understanding of the extension and research enterprise of UNL helpful.
