Description of Work

The postdoctoral research associate will contribute to the integrated research land-grant Mission of the home unit and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR), as an effective scholar and citizen, including supporting student recruitment and IANR science literacy.

The purpose of this position is to conduct research on statistical and computational methods used in the development and implementation of quantitative genetic methodologies to study the genetic and physiological architecture of high nighttime temperature stress in crops. This position is supported by a recently funded NSF EPSCoR project.

Responsibilities will be oriented toward quantitative genetic analysis of longitudinal high-throughput image data combined with high-dimensional genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data. The projects include, but are not limited to, the following: 1) theoretical development and application of genome-wide association analysis using phenotypic, RNA-seq, and metabolomics data and 2) software development in R, Julia, and C++.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in quantitative genetics, statistical genetics, animal breeding, plant breeding or related field by the start of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong background in statistics and statistical computing.
