Description of Work

Participate in providing training sessions for users and their staff in the core facility. Consult users regarding equipment use, setting up experiments and interpretation of instrument readouts. Troubleshoot equipment. Analyze samples submitted to the core; prepare reports for users, core director and center director. Participate in meetings to optimize experimental design by core users. Maintain a user log and an equipment usage log. Participate in online billing process. Prepare written protocols for services provided by the core.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biology, or related field. Plus, two (2) years of work experience in laboratory settings. Work history will show strong working knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biology, or related field. Experience with basic and skilled lab procedures. Basic data collection, analysis and report writing skills required.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidate will have a Masters’ degree in Molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biology, or related field. Expertise with small animals, familiarity with research in nutrition, physiology, or the metabolic syndrome. Publications of original research in peer-reviewed journals. Basic knowledge in bioinformatics. Strong knowledge in molecular biology techniques. Project Management and supervisory experience.
