Description of Work

Coordinate continuation of developing and improving dental disease surveillance infrastructure. Effectively meet the demands for timely, population-based surveillance information that will support the development, enhancement and calculation of the oral health workforce activities and determine the impact of community based dental disease prevention efforts. Focus on enhancing surveillance and providing more representative state data for national trend comparison.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or other health care related field plus one year of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant disease/health subject area. Additional training and experience in the application of epidemiological principles and practices, including surveillance, investigative techniques, implementation and control measures and evaluation measures, and system design and implementation. Knowledge of: epidemiological principles and practices related to the surveillance, investigative techniques, proper prevention and control techniques for diseases and infections, medical knowledge of data to be collected and analyzed, statistical tools, epidemiological study methodologies and protocols. Ability to: conduct analytical studies of system capabilities, influence participation of medical practitioners and other health players, analyze complex health data, prepare studies and reports, explain and defend complex medical studies and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics or other health care related field plus at least two years of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant disease/health subject area. Knowledge of: Nebraska regulations and policies involving reportable diseases and infections and state wide surveillance system structures and operations. Ability to: independently design, develop, implement, integrate, and conduct epidemiological systems, models, and studies.
