Description of Work

The UNL Department of Physics and Astronomy is searching for a Senior Research Associate in atomic, molecular, optical and plasma physics. The successful candidate will perform experiments at UNL’s Extreme Light Core Facility to generate femtosecond electron beams based on laser wakefield acceleration. The individual will coordinate experiments involving high power laser systems, perform data analysis and simulations, and supervise students.

Minimum Required Qualifications

PhD in physics or related field.
At least five years of postdoctoral experience.
Experience with laser plasma generation and characterization.
Experience with the design of gas targets for laser wakefield acceleration.
Experience with characterization of electron beams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing optical systems and characterization of gas targets.
Experience in design and construction of drivers for pulsed gas nozzles.
Experience operating high power laser systems and vacuum equipment.
Experience supervising graduate students.
