Description of Work

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation and research coordination at the Barta Brothers Ranch near Rose, NE and for the oversight of University owned cattle, ranch fence and water systems, weed management, and general upkeep of the facility. Functions include facilitation of data collection, identification of equipment resources, and provision of support to research project personnel, including graduate researchers to ensure research success and a strong learning environment. The incumbent is to provide primary contact and coordination with any private ranch land lease holders. The individual in this position will be required to live in the living quarters at the ranch headquarters. Housing and utilities will be provided at no cost, with the exception of telephone. A pesticide applicator’s license must be obtained within one year of employment.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in range management, animal science, or related field plus three years of work experience in a ranch setting required. Knowledge of cattle handling and rangeland management essential. Experience must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in range management. Project management and/or supervisory experience.
