Description of Work

Provides and coordinates documentation for payroll, time entry, reconciliation of accounts payable/receivable, and procurement of goods and services. Reviews quotes and interacts with Procurement Services on behalf of Nebraska Transportation Center (NTC) and Mid-America Transportation Center (MATC). Qualitative review of departmental transactions, to include reviewing all journal entries and bi-weekly time entries and reconciling p-cards. Manages budget and performs data mining and analysis of spending. In coordination with the College Business Office, position is responsible for setting service rates and overseeing the financials for the service center.

Responsible for personnel documentation administration, preparing personnel actions forms and letters for faculty, staff, and students. Serves as administrative point of contact for all aspects of faculty, staff, and student position agreements and employment documentation.

Coordinates functions in conjunction with the College of Engineering’s Business, Human Resources, and Grants Offices, faculty, and other members of the service center and consults with them regarding financial policies and procedures and availability of funding. Position is responsible for monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures. Prepares monthly financial reports and generates other reports as requested by Director, Sponsored Programs, Assistant Dean for Business and Fiscal Affairs, and other members of the service center.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field plus two years of experience in a business related setting; equivalent education/experience considered. Experience with a large integrated financial management system and PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Working knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting practices. Ability to follow established policies and procedures. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals in a professional manner. Experience must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance. Experience in an academic environment and with pre/post award process for grants. Detail oriented and accurate with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task and make independent decisions regarding priorities. Expertise with Microsoft Excel or Access software. Working knowledge of SAP and personnel and payroll practices.
