|Description of Work||
These positions will primarily focus on instructional programs and participate in College of Engineering outreach and service activities. The successful candidates are expected to contribute to Durham School undergraduate instructional programs and demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the industry.
Responsibilities would include 90% teaching and 10% service. Positions will be expected to be significantly involved in the unit and College teaching mission including development of course materials, lecturing, holding office hours, preparing and grading assignments and exams, managing and grading class projects, and coordinating teaching assistants who serve as lab instructors and graders. In addition, they will be expected to participate in a variety of non-class activities which address the teaching mission.
This appointment is intended for individuals who are dedicated to being leaders in educational innovation, curriculum development, and pedagogy.
|Minimum Required Qualifications||
Applicants are expected to have a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or a closely-related field, e.g., engineering. Applicants must have a strong record of exemplary accomplishments in the construction industry and must have not less than ten (10) years of construction experience in the United States in a progressive series of responsible positions.
Candidates demonstrate previous successful teaching and/or mentoring experiences in Engineering and/or Construction, either through formal classroom settings or in professional industry settings (through internal company training courses, professional short courses, etc.); and demonstrate potential and interest in pursuing excellence in teaching/mentoring of Construction and Engineering students.
Preferred candidates will possess an advanced degree, e.g., M.S. in Construction Science, M.S. Engineering, Master of architecture, M.B.A., J.D., Ph.D. etc. Licensure as a registered professional engineer or architect, certification from LEED, ASHRAE or other nationally/internationally recognized accreditation organizations preferred. Preferred candidates will also demonstrate strong experience in at least two of the following priority area(s) of emphasis: project management; building information modeling (BIM); construction contracts and law; professional practice; construction communication; design/build; heavy/highway; sustainability; mechanical/electrical; software currency (Excel, energy modeling, estimating and/or scheduling).
Experience in integrated project delivery methods and associated technologies is expressly sought.
